GE to Supply Turbine for Türkerler Holding's Tire WPP
For 50 MW capacity increase of the Power Plant, GE will supply 22 ea two different type wind turbines and install them
Agreement has been signed between General Electric (GE) and Türkerler Holding for installing 22 wind turbines for İzmir Tire Wind Power Plant (WPP). In accordance with the announcement by GE, under the areement signed for contributing to improvement of local industry and employment of Turkey, 50 MW more capacity planned to be included into the wind energy installed capacity of the country. Within the context of Tire Wind Power Plant Project in İzmir, GE will supply 22 ea two different type wind turbines and install them. Company will also be responsible of maintenance of the equipments along 10 years. Türkerler Holding Executive Board Chairman Kazım Türker, whose opinions were also included into the announcement, has noted that cooperation was made with GE on Barbaros WPP and Kalfaköy projects, “We have carried this to its upper level with this new agreement signed for Tire WPP in Aegean Region. With GE’s turbines, the total installed capacity of Türkerler Holding in wind energy generation will reach 72 MW. We are proud of further contributing to renewable energy of Turkey under this cooperation.” GE Turkey Executive Board Chairman Özsoy, “We contribute to domestic production” GE Turkey Executive Board Chairman and Director General Canan Özsoy said in the announcement, “GE Turkey is proud of contributing to development of Turkey’s renewable energy portfolio, of playing role in our country to reach her objectives. Turbine tower and wind production will be made in Turkey, thus, we fulfill our promise to contribute to domestic production, innovation and improving the employment.
