IFC Will Manifest Their Cooperation with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality as the Best Exemplifying Case in Implementations of Cooperation at the Global Scale

International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group manifests their cooperation with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality as an exemplifying case in the world.

Elena Bourganskaia, the Global Head of Water & Municipal Infrastructure at the IFC stated that they have introduced their cooperation with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality as the best exemplifying case among all cases of cooperation made with other municipalities at the global scale.

Bourganskaia, “We wish to bring other Mayors in the World to Izmir and make a round-table meeting together with them”

Elena Bourganskaia, the Global Head of Water & Municipal Infrastructure at the IFC paid a visit to Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. Bourganskaia said that the municipality is the largest infrastructure and transport project partner of IFC in the regions of Europe, Middle East and North Africa. Bourganskaia stating that they have introduced their cooperation with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality as the best exemplifying case among all cases of cooperation made with other municipalities at the global scale, said “We have achieved outstanding jobs together until now. We wish to bring other Mayors in the World to Izmir and make a round-table meeting together with them. We want to introduce to all municipalities how your municipality performs, your investments in the environment, your support to agriculture, your infrastructure investments, your success in fairs and exhibitions, and to sum it all how you have improved the city by means of your investments.”

Mayor of Izmir Kocaoğlu, “We carry on with our investments to develop the city”

Mayor of Izmir Aziz Kocaoğlu noting that the number of steps they are taking in investments increases as the boundaries of the city expands, underlined their wish to develop their cooperation with IFC even further. Kocaoğlu said, “We have turned into a very creditable institution from the viewpoint of international development banks thanks to our strengthened financial structure. We carry on with our investments to develop the city by own resources which are many times more than the loans we have provided from IFC.”

As will be known, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality signed loan agreements with IFC amounting to € 151 million “without Treasury Guarantees and Bonds” for Konak and Karşıyaka Tramcar projects, the Traffic Management System and the Procurement of Emergency Action Fire Fighting Vehicles, procurement of 85 metro vehicles, additional units to enhance the capacity of Çiğli Waste Water Treatment Facilities of İZSU, and Yeni Foça Waste Water Treatment Facilities.
