14 New Agreements Are Expected to Be Signed with Qatar on Energy Sector Among Others

Şafi, the Qatar Ambassador to Ankara: "Şeyh Temim Bin Hamad Al Sani, the Emir of Qatar will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Trabzon soon. We will sign 14 agreements with Turkey on energy, economy, and tourism among others on December 18 in Trabzon..."

Noting that their country is always in search of investment in Turkey, Salim Mübarek Al-Şafi, the Ambassador of Qatar to Ankara, said: "We will sign 14 agreements with Turkey on energy, economy, tourism among others in Trabzon on December 18".

Şafi remarked the recent momentum of the relations between Turkey and Qatar, and said that the political and economic relations between Qatar and Turkey have developed very well.

Reminding that Qatar-based companies have purchased Finansbank and Digiturk in Turkey, Şafi said: "Qatar seizes every opportunity to make investments in Turkey. Şeyh Temim Bin Hamad Al Sani, the Emir of Qatar will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Trabzon soon. We will sign 14 agreements with Turkey on energy, economy, and tourism among others on December 18 in Trabzon. These agreements will enhance our relations with Turkey".

Stating that they seize any opportunity of investment with Turkey, Şafi underlined that a committee from the Qatar Ministry of Economy has engaged in negotiations about the potential investments in Turkey.

"LNG talks are in progress"

Şafi also referred to the talks on liquified natural gas (LNG) between Turkey and Qatar which holds 14 percent of all natural gas reserves in the world, and said that the commercial talks on LNG trade was in progress.

As can be remembered, we reported in our last news on this subject that Turkey purchased LNG of such small amounts as 9 tankers from Qatar in accordance with the agreement signed in 2014, and that the negotiations were underway for a long-term LNG purchase agreement at higher amounts between Turkey and Qatar. BOTAŞ had signed a Preliminary Memorandum of Understanding with the National Petroleum Company of Qatar for LNG purchase during the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Qatar TEBA:1743/ December 7, 2015.
