EBRD Provided Euros 1.9 Billion Financing for 43 Projects in Total in Turkey in 2016

It is stated that 20 percent of Bank’s Euros 9.4 Billion in international investments is carried out in Turkey. The Bank provided financing for PPP modelled healthcare campus projects, renewable energy investments and energy efficiency projects

European Reconstruction and Development Bank (ERBD) stated that it has provided Euros 1.9 Billion financing for different projects in Turkey in 2016.

According to the statement made by EBRD, the Bank proceeds with its investment in Turkey in a sound manner, and financed totally 43 projects, 13 of which is financed in the currency of Turkish Lira. It is emphasized that 20 percent of Bank’s Euros 9,4 Billion in international investments is carried out in Turkey.

Jean-Patrick Marquet, Turkey Director of EBRD, commenting on the subject, stated that EBRD was able to increase its investment in Turkey in the most challenging year. At the same time, EBRD supported the realization of reforms required in respect of long-term outlook of the country such as increasing the energy efficiency, deepening the capital markets, making prevalent and widespread the financing in the currency of Turkish Lira.

As known, EBRD is intensively involved in the financing of PPP modelled city hospital projects in Turkey. Very recently, the Bank provided financing for the investors in relation to Gaziantep, Bursa, Elazığ, İzmir Bayraklı and Kocaeli Healthcare Campus Projects. 

Moreover, EBRD participates in the financing of giant projects in Turkey such as TANAP and Eurasian Tunnel. In respect of the TANAP Project which supports the diversity of natural gas sources of Europe, the Bank will provide the financing of 1.5 US Dollars in total together with TAP Project TEBA:1782/ September 21, 2016. EBRD has also brought in the direct commercial credit for the Euraisan Tunnel Project which was put into service in December 20, 2016, connecting the continents of Europe and Asia through land tunnel placed underneath the sea bottom. EBRD was also awarded with the “The Best Project Financing Agreements” given by Euromoney TEBA:1795/ December 20, 2016.

On the other hand, EBRD, which has announced that the “energy” will be the priority in Turkey during 2015-2018, continue to provide financing for the electricity generation industry, especially in renewable energy and privatization TEBA:1773/ July 11, 2016, TEBA:1771/ June 24, 2016

Furthermore, the Bank provided loans for the desulphurization investment in TÜPRAŞ İzmir and Kırıkkale Refineries TEBA:1768/ June 2, 2016 and energy efficiency projects of capacity increasing investments of ERDEMİR and İSDEMİR of Ereğli Demir Çelik Fabrikaları (ERDEMİR) TEBA:1749/ January 22, 2016.
