Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci Met with the Management of Contractors Association
Zeybekci: "We are close to our desired point in Russia. We have received the first good news. A Turkish company has undertaken the construction of a 50 million dollar culture center. I consider the Qatar crisis as a dispute among siblings. We hope that it is resolved soon. We hope and know that Turkish contractors there will not be adversely affected. It is not possible that Turkey is affected by the crisis."
The Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci received the Members of the Board of Directors of Turkish Contractors Association (TMB). Zeybeckci made important statements about Russia and Qatar where Turkish contractors operate intensively. "We are close to our desired point in Russia" Zeybekci said: "Russia is a country from which Turkey gets 6 to 7 billion dollars of business. It declined to 0 due to the problems with Russia. Positive contacts were established between our President and the President of Russia. We also increased the frequency of our meetings. We are close to our desired point". Stating that Turkey has never imposed bans on Russia and that bans would cause relations to be unsustainable, Zeybekci said: "We have started to experience problems with Russia in imports. The bans on you were repealed and then we received the first good news". Zeybekci reported that a Turkish company has undertaken the construction of a culture center in Russia. "This new project in Russia is worth 50 million dollars. There are positive developments. We have managed to perform projects worth 13 billion dollars in this troublesome process". Zeybekci also stated that a regulation was being made that will make it easier for the businesspeople registered to certain organizations and institutions to obtain Russian visa. "We hope and know that Turkish contractors there will not be adversely affected" Regarding the decision of 7 countries to terminate their relations with Qatar, Zeybekci said: "I consider the Qatar crisis as a dispute among siblings. We hope that it is resolved soon. We hope and know that Turkish contractors there will not be adversely affected. It is not possible that Turkey is affected by the crisis". "All Turkish products purchased from Turkey in the contracting sector will be supported by Eximbank with 0 interest" Stating that all Turkish products purchased from Turkey in the contracting sector will be supported by Eximbank with 0 interest, Zeybekci said: "We aim to be able to support by the resources of Exim up to 26 percent of our total export this year". Mr. Zeybekci argued that Turkish Eximbank would outrun South Korean Eximbank in 2018. "New investment worth about $4 billion" Commenting on the Project-Based Investment Incentive System, Zeybekci said: "We have reached this point with an investment of 27 billion TL. We have turned one of them into a Cabinet Decree. The second one is a major investment. It will be announced to the public soon. It is worth about $4 billion. Turkey must create its own giants in 8-9 fields that it identifies".
