Two Important Appointments at Senior Management of TAP

Walter Peeraer is appointed the CEO and Board Chairman and Luca Schieppati is appointed the General Director of Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP)

There are senior management appointments at Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) Project that is in progress and intended to Azerbaijan's (Shah Deniz II) natural gas to Italy and Europe via Greece and Albania through the border of Turkey after the end of TANAP. 

According to the statement by TAP, Walter Peeraer is appointed the CEO and Board Chairman and Luca Schieppati is appointed the General Director of TAP AG. 

Walter Peeraer, the new CEO and Board Chairman of TAP, is the former Board Chairman and General Director of Fluxys S.A., Belgium-based owner of European natural gas transmission network and a partner of TAP. 

TAP's new General Director Schieppati was transferred from Snam Rete Gas S.p.A., the largest natural gas transmission company in Europe, which has been in operation since 1991. Working as the General Director of Snam which manages the 32,000-km natural gas network of Italy, Schieppati will take over his new position from Ian Bradshaw.

As it is known, gas transfer from TAP to Europe is expected to start in 2020. TAP will join TANAP on Turkey-Greece border and connect to the natural gas network of Italy after 878 km through northern Greece, Albania and Adriatic Sea. The initial capacity of the pipeline that will carry Azerbaijan's gas to several markets in Europe will be 10 billion cubic meters. TAP's shareholders are BP (20%), SOCAR (20%), Snam S.p.A. (20%), Fluxys (19%), Enagás (16%) and Axpo (5%).
