Gazprom’s TurkStream Project

Contract has been signed with British Petrofac on 340 million Euro for natural gas intake terminal at Kıyıköy, on Kırklareli border province, the entrance point of TurkStream Pipeline to Turkey

A noteworthy development experienced in TurkStream Project, the intergovernmental agreement of which was signed between Turkey and Russia, developed by Russian Gazprom as to replace South Stream Pipeline to carry Russian gas under the Black Sea to Europe via Turkey.

It is reported that Gazprom has signed contract with British Petrofac for intake terminal to be constructed at Kıyıköy, entrance to Turkey after sea crossing section of the project. 

According to announcement of Petrofac, a contract on 340 million Euro was signed between Petrofac and Gazprom's affiliation South Stream Transport BV for improving TurkStream Natural Gas Pipeline and constructing a natural gas intake terminal on Turkey side. Within the coverage of contract, company will improve pipeline to cross under the sea and construct a natural gas intake terminal on Turkey side, at Kıyıköy, within the boundaries of Kırıkkale province.

TurkStream Pipeline to start at Anapa, Russia will proceed 900 km under the Black Sea, to reach Kıyıköy.

As is known, Swiss Allseas company started to lay two parallel pipeline of 81 cm diameter, 15.75 bcm each 2200 m under the Black Sea along Russian coasts with pipe laying ship, Pioneering Sprit in May TEBA:1817/ May 26, 2017. The sea crossing pipeline and construction of intake terminal at Kıyıköy is of Gazprom responsibility, Gazprom-BOTAŞ will jointly construct the single pipeline of 15.75 bcm from intake terminal for carrying gas to Europe via Turkey.
