German Company Thyssenkrupp Establishes a Manufacturing Plant in Turkey

One of the world's leading elevator companies, the German company Thyssenkrupp, has established a manufacturing plant in Turkey. Located in Dilovası, Kocaeli, the plant will initially manufacture 1,200 escalator units and generate a volume of TL 500 million. The plant has an indoor space of 23,000 m2 built on a total area of 27,000 m2 with an investment of € 20 million. Escalators will bear the designation of "Made in Turkey" and released in Middle East and Eastern Europe as well as the Turkish market. This will make Turkey a local base in the export of Thyssenkrupp escalators. Thyssenkrupp Elevator Global Board Member Ercan Keleş Speaking in the opening ceremony, Thyssenkrupp Elevator Global Board Member and CFO Ercan Keleş said: "We see that the quality of 'domestic and national' recently bears a great significance for Turkey. Thyssenkrupp Elevators does not only manufacture products that fulfill the standards but it also develops technologies that define the standards and raises the bar in quality. Pre-production research and development activities are very important for our company. Now we are transferring our technology and knowledge to Turkey with our new factory. Turkish engineers and workers in our factory will make use of this knowledge and contribute to the concept of 'domestic and national'."
