The first prospective partnership has been determined regarding the new gigantic 3-Storey Grand Istanbul Tunnel Project for which a tender is expected to be announced by Infrastructure Investments General Directorate (AYGM) subordinated to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

GAMA Holding, the contractor company of Marmaray which connects two sides of the Bosphorus by means of an undersea railway tunnel and which was put into operation in 2013, has disclosed that it has signed a partnership agreement with the Chinese companies this time in relation with the 3-Storey Grand Istanbul Tunnel Project.

A Memorandum of Understanding is signed in Ankara between GAMA Holding and CSCEC and CIGG

According to the disclosure made by GAMA Holding, a Memorandum of Understanding is signed with China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited (CSCEC) and China Investment & Construction Group Holdings Limited (CICG) which are among the most prominent firms in the world, on July 26, 2019 on the premises of GAMA Holding for the investment and construction works of the 3-Storey Grand Istanbul Tunnel.

As will be known, AYGM had made preparations to tender the construction works of the 3-Storey Tunnel Project with alternatives and was waiting for directives from the Presidency of the Republic and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to announce the tender.

It was stated that decision was taken on a routing on the southern axis in a disclosure made on the project in April most recently. It was stated that the tunnel diameter would be around 17 meters within the scope of the 3-Storey Tunnel Project, that there would be a pressure of 14 bars on the surface and the TBM to be used at the tunnel would have to be manufactured to endure such pressure.

Following information was given on the highway routing of the project: “The line will start off at Hasdal Junction extending to the 3-storey structure from a passage tunnel by means of a shaft transiting the Eurasian Tunnel and Gayrettepe Zorlu Center, then forming of 2-storey structure in the vicinity of Soğuksu on the Anatolian side eventually forming a surface highway at Çamlık junction. The highway line will have a length of 16 km with 2x2 lanes. The 4.3 km section of the line will consist of a structure under the Bosphorus. The remaining section will be around 11 km including 2-storey structures on both sides. We have worked together with KGM on a connection to the North Marmara Motorway and to E5. We have detailed access possibilities to Çamlık junction and Şile junction. We have prepared everything in the physical sense.” TEBA:1914/ April 17, 2019
