KGM, 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and Malkara-Çanakkale Motorway Project

Construction is in progress in the Çanakkale Bridge and Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe Motorway (Malkara-Çanakkale Section) Projects of the General Directorate of Highways (KGM) Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (UAB) contracted on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis to ÇOK A.Ş. (Yapı Merkezi- Limak-SKE&C-Daelim) for construction and operation.

Loading and discharge of the first deck slab weighing 720 tons have been completed. The first deck slab of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge that will have the world's largest abutment clearance has been moved from Gölcük to Gelibolu. 86 more deck slabs with a total weight of 60,000 tons will be loaded and discharged. The heaviest one of the 87 deck slabs to be loaded and discharged will be 885.6 tons, and the total volume of the load will be large enough to fill 264 olympic swimming pools.

As can be remembered, we reported in our last news on the issue that the main ropes of the catwalk to be used to draw the main wires of the bridge were completed and drawing the steel wires would start in January 2021. TEBA:1994/ November 16, 2020
