ENKA – Siemens, Tripoli West Simple Cycle Power Plant Project

New developments are reported in Tripoli West Simple Cycle Power Plant Project of which construction works were started in Libya by ENKA which is a prominent power plant contractor in Turkey and having successfully completed the construction works of numerous power plants abroad besides ongoing works, this time with consortium partner Siemens.

According to a disclosure made by ENKA, the first structural concrete laying process was realized on June 5, 2021 at the plant with an installed power of 671 MW. A contract was signed between ENKA – Siemens Consortium and the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) in 2017 regarding the turnkey works project foreseen to be completed in January 2022. The scope of the projects also encompasses the procurement and assembly works of gas turbines at the plant.

Power will be generated at gas turbine generators (CTG) and will be transmitted to the network from main boosters at the plant to be built on power hub configuration equipped with four SGT5-PAC 2000E Siemens gas turbine generators and working on double fuel combustion, namely fuel oil and natural gas.
