Romania, Unirii-A8 Motorway Project

Romanian Transportation Minister Sorin Grindeanu stated that Romanian National Highway Investment Company CNIR has started the tendering process for the design and construction works of the 28.8 km Târgu Frumos-Lețcani section of Unirii A8 Motorway. It is stated that tender documents have been sent to SEAP and the tender announcement will be made soon upon confirmation of documents.

It is stated that the estimated cost of the project is calculated to be RON 5.5 billion (excl. VAT) which is planned to be financed by the Transport Program (PT) 2021-2027. The period of works has been determined as 46 months (10 months for design works and 36 months for construction works). The scope of works consists of 19 bridges (the longest will be 1130 meters long), 2 tunnels, 2 junctions (Podul Iloaiei and Lețcani), two service areas, two short term parking lots and a maintenance and coordination center.

On the other hand, the bidding deadline is set as March 24, 2025 in the tender announced for the 27 km Phase-1 Târgu Neamț (Moțca) – Târgu Frumos section of the A8 Unirii Motorway which we previously reported that would be published in SEAP TEBA:December 24, 2024
