The 18th Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the International Solar Energy Society - Turkiye Section (GÜNDER) is held on February 21, 2025 at JW Marriott Hotel in Ankara. Mehmet İzzet Özaydın has been elected as the Board Chairman of GÜNDER with unanimity in the first Board Meeting held after the General Assembly. Kutay Kaleli who had been executing the duties of the Board Chairman of GÜNDER since eight years spoke as follows: “We have reached an installed power of over 20,000 MW expanding the solar power sector in Turkiye. We have advanced our sector with the support of all public institutions and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in particular and with projects such as GÜNDERMYM-Occupational Qualification Center. We have accomplished major goals in local production and I believe that the sector will grow further in the future as well. We will altogether continue to work for a future enlightened by the sun.” On the other hand, Özaydın who has been elected as the Board Chairman of GÜNDER made the following statement: “We will show progress in the sector even further with efficient steps in all areas from rooftop SPPs and distributed energy systems to industrial integration. I believe that we will put an even more powerful solar energy ecosystem altogether in line with our targets of protecting local production and supporting exports.” Özaydın stating that the committees will be enlarged and will consist of 11 Study Groups, said “A large sphere of influence will be constituted from improvements in legislation to the supporting of innovative technologies, from protecting local production to international cooperation depending on the areas focused upon by each group. These groups leading energy transition will also turn our solar power ecosystem into a more competitive and sustainable system.” Study Groups of GÜNDER for the period of 2025-2028 are as follows: Solar Energy Strategy & Policies Study Group, Legal and Regulatory Study Group, Energy Storage and Hybrid Systems Study Group, Rooftop SPP and Distributed Energy Systems Study Group, Innovative Solar Technologies Study Group, Solar Power and Industrial Integration Study Group, GÜNDER MYM, Employment, Education and Awareness Study Group, International Cooperation Trade Fairs and Exports Study Group, Solar Power and Climate Change Study Group, Protection of Local Production Study Group, Supporting Exports Study Group.
