The number of workers will be 30 thousand by spring. The first runway is now completed. The terminal has started to form. We will open the first part that will serve 90 million passengers in the first half of 2018."

Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication (UDH), Ahmet Arslan made important statements about the 3rd airport.

Minister Arslan stated that they built the Third Airport by filling the swamps formerly occupied by coal mines and that a serious landscaping took place around the airport, and said "The progress of construction is 42 percent. 23 thousand workers are working around the clock. The number of workers will be 30 thousand by spring. The first runway is now completed. The terminal has started to form".

Reminding that domestic and international passenger count of Turkey has increased from 35 million to 185 million and the number of airports rose from 26 to 55, Arslan said: "We aim to transport 200 passengers by the third airport alone. We will create an added value of USD 25 billion from this airport alone in 2025. We will be employing 200 thousand people by 2020s. We will open the first part that will serve 90 million passengers in the first half of 2018. Then we will open the next part up to 200 million passengers."
