Siemens Opens a Low Voltage Shaltgear Manufacturing Plant in Gebze

Siemens AG Board Member Klaus Helmrich: "We believe that the Integrated Manufacturing Plants of Siemens will play a leading role in digital development of Turkey with the advanced technology and innovation-oriented solutions and practices that they offer."

Siemens Turkey Chairman and Chief Executive (CEO) Hüseyin Geliş: "The investment amount of our integrated manufacturing plants in Turkey has reached € 65 million. The production technology and capacity of our new Low-Voltage Switchgear Manufacturing Plant is designed to respond any demand from the market in the fastest way. We improve manufacturing processes and provide organizations with advantages with out innovative solutions in Gebze."

Siemens Turkey Low-Voltage Switchgear Manufacturing Plant in Gebze Organized Industrial Zone in Kocaeli was opened with a ceremony. Faruk Özlü, the Minister of Science, Industry and Technology; Klaus Helmrich, Siemens AG Board Member; Hüseyin Geliş, Siemens Turkey Chairman and Chief Executive (CEO); Hüseyin Aksoy, the Governor of Kocaeli; Zekeriya Özak, the Deputy Mayor of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, and Adnan Köşker, the Mayor of Gebze, attended the opening ceremony.

Stating that they had well-established roots in Turkey and they considered themselves a domestic company, Siemens AG Board Member Klaus Helmrich said: "Our local knowledge, long-term experience in Turkey and our capability of transferring our global resources allow us not to fail to satisfy our customers. We will continue to do our best to satisfy the needs of our customers in Turkey."

Emphasizing that the future would be digital, Helmrich said: "We believe that the Integrated Manufacturing Plants of Siemens will play a leading role in digital development of Turkey with the advanced technology and innovation-oriented solutions and practices that they offer. Just as is the case now, Siemens will continue to be a strong and reliable partner for our customers in Turkey, a good corporate citizen for the Turkish society, and a good and supporting employer for our employees."

Siemens Turkey Chairman and Chief Executive (CEO) Hüseyin Geliş stated that the investment amount of their integrated manufacturing plants in Turkey had reached € 65 million. Geliş pointed out that Siemens Integrated Manufacturing Plants which are established on 150,000 square meters is a good example of the digitalization and automation expertise of Siemens.

Geliş said: "Siemens opened its first factory in the Republic Period in Eskişehir in 1928. Today, we take another important step in our journey by opening our new factory equipped with the state-of-the-art technology. Focusing on electrification, automation and digitalization with our vision of 2020, we assume a leading role in taking our industry to the future. The production technology and capacity of our new Low-Voltage Switchgear Manufacturing Plant, which we plan as our phase II investment is designed to respond any demand from the market in the fastest way. We improve manufacturing processes and provide organizations with advantages with out innovative solutions in Gebze."

Emphasizing that they invested € 27 million in R&D in 2017, Geliş further said: "We will increase our investments in R&D by 25 percent to € 34 million in 2018. These investments will focus on Digitalization and Industrial Cloud technologies. Started with 50 employees, our Corporate Technology division by which we conduct our R&D, has reached 550 employees today."

About the Low-Voltage Switchgear Manufacturing Plant

Contactors and accessories, overcurrent relays, automatic fuses, automatic switch accessories and accessory parts will be manufactured in the Low-Voltage Switchgear Manufacturing Plant. Integrated Manufacturing Plants of Siemens will also increase the export capacity with a new manufacturing plant which has a manufacturing capacity of more than 30 million pieces per year. Integrated Manufacturing Plants of Siemens Turkey in Gebze will make an export of € 110 million in 2018.
