Siemens Gamesa Signs an Agreement with EMS Electronics on Wind Turbine Generators

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Turkey’s CEO Yıldırım: “Generators at these dimensions which will be used in wind turbines for the first time in Turkey have been manufactured locally at a rate of over 55 percent. These generators will be used at a power plant of 10 turbines which we will install before the Renewable Energy Resource Fields (YEKA) project. But the same type, maybe a larger type will also be used for YEKA.”

Siemens which is one of the leading companies in the world in renewable energy technologies continues studies on local production in Turkey. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has signed a cooperation agreement with the Turkish generator manufacturer EMS Electronics within the scope of Yamaçtepe Wind Power Project for the production of wind turbine components. The generators have thus gained the status of being manufactured with the “Domestic Goods Certificate” by means of the cooperation. The delivery of the initial lot of generators which are domestically produced has been made by means of a ceremony held in the factory of EMS Electronics at Tuzla-Istanbul.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Turkey’s CEO Hakan Yıldırım underlining that the generators manufactured for wind turbines have a domestic production rate of over 55 percent, spoke as follows: “Generators at these dimensions which will be used in wind turbines for the first time in Turkey have been manufactured locally at a rate of over 55 percent. EMS has reached as of today a potential of exporting generators to any wind turbine we have installed in the world within our global supply chain.”

Yıldırım stating that the generators manufactured in Turkey will also be used in the Renewable Energy Resource Fields (YEKA) project, said: “These generators which have been installed here today are those which will be used at a power plant of 10 turbines before the YEKA project. But the same type, maybe a larger type will also be used for YEKA.” Yıldırım stating that the projects which have been developed are of great importance and Turkish suppliers have to be supported for them to be a part of the global eco-system, spoke as follows: “Great jobs can be accomplished by means of great projects. For this reason, we consider YEKA projects as valuable projects in terms of vitalizing local suppliers and to lead the way for them to become a part of the global eco-system. We are the world leader as Siemens Gamesa. A leadership will of course come to reality also in Turkey by means of a YEKA project. We will accordingly be supporting these global projects in a continuous manner.”

On the other hand, General Manager of EMS Electronics Hüsamettin Canbaz noting that they aim to increase the domestic production rate to around 70 percent from 55 percent extended his thanks to all those who contributed in the process.
