ENKA Will Construct 112 Kilometers of Motorways in Serbia

ENKA and its partner since 30 years, the US based Bechtel are undertaking the design and construction works of the 112 km Morava Corridor Motorway in Serbia. The motorway in question connects the 10th and 11th corridors which are among the most significant access corridors in Europe. ENKA-Bechtel JV has signed an agreement with the Serbian Government worth € 745 million for the design and construction works of Morava Corridor Motorway. The purpose of the motorway connecting the cities of Pojate and Preljina is to cross through the region which was the industrial hub of former Yugoslavia to revitalize economy in the region as was the case in the past upon connecting the area to two important access corridors, reportedly. Forming of a number of industrial areas on the routing is also on the agenda of the Serbian Government. ENKA’s Executive Committee Member Responsible for Infrastructure Projects Özger İnal ENKA’s Executive Committee Member Responsible for Infrastructure Projects Özger İnal said that the motorway of which works will be started at the soonest and will be completed in 4 years will be designed at highest standards and the scope of the project will encompass excavation and landfill works at considerable volumes, bridges, viaducts, junctions, toll collection points, the construction of a new river bed at a length of 50 km to prevent flooding threatening the region from time to time and infrastructure works conforming to 5G digital technology. As will be recalled, the final section of the 65 km and 4-lane Kosovo Motorway Route 6 Project extending to Northern Macedonia from Pristina, the capital city of Kosovo of which the construction works were undertaken by ENKA and its partner Bechtel was opened to traffic on May 29, 2019 TEBA:1920/ May 31, 2019 Bechtel-ENKA Joint Venture with a 50 % partnership of ENKA completed more than 700 km of motorways and highways besides tunnels at a total length of 11.5 km and bridges totaling to 36 km within the past 30 years.
