Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant Project
Akkuyu Nuclear Inc. Production and Construction Organization Director Denis Sezemin said, "All equipment has been installed in the first unit and is being checked. In the second unit, the pipes of the system that carries the water that will provide cooling while the reactor is operating are being installed. Work continues in the reactor shaft section in the third unit. In the fourth unit, the two-layer protection layer has been completed and the ember arrester has been brought to the site. The supply of reactor pressure equipment from Russia for the fourth power unit is one of the important developments we expect this year."
Akkuyu Nuclear Inc. Production and Construction Organization Director Denis Sezemin made an assessment (to AA) regarding Akkuyu NPP (nuclear power plant). Sezemin stated that the construction of 4 units in Akkuyu NPP is being carried out simultaneously, although in different stages, and said, "The final stage has been reached in the first unit of the project's construction process; all equipment has already been installed and is being checked with great care. The project's compliance with the parameters foreseen in the design is being checked with great care. We mobilized all our power and resources to put the first power unit into operation." Sezemin emphasized that they are carrying out a very important study regarding the installation of the cooling system pipes in the second unit of the plant, and noted the following: "These pipelines carry the water that will provide cooling during the operation of the reactor. Therefore, the necessary work is being done here to reduce the temperature of 330 degrees to 160 degrees. This task is also carried out by the pipelines in question." "The supply of reactor pressure equipment for the fourth power unit from Russia is one of the important developments we expect": Sezemin, who stated that the work in the section called "reactor shaft" in the third power unit continues at full speed, also provided information about the work in the fourth unit. Sezemin noted the following; "We completed the construction of the foundation section of the reactor building towards the end of last year. In addition, other work in the turbine building started simultaneously and is currently ongoing. All work regarding the decks there has been completed. The two-story structure called the protection layer in the fourth unit has been completed. A very important piece of equipment called the ember arrester has been brought to the field here. Simultaneously, sea, hydrotechnical structures, and coastal structures are continuing according to our plan. The equipment we call the steam generator has been brought to the field with all its components to be used in the third unit. The supply of reactor pressure equipment for the fourth power unit from Russia is one of the important developments we expect this year."
