Unemployment Ratio Has Been 8,4% in January

Unemployment of younger population has been 14,9% by 0.8 points decrease...

Türkiye Statistics Institute (TÜİK) has announced unemployment and labor force data of January 2025. 

Accordingly, the number of unemployed people who are 15 and older decreased by 25,000 in January 2025 compared to the previous month, as to be 3 million 2 thousand. Unemployment ratio decreased 0,1 points to be 8,4%. Unemployment ratio estimated to be 6,5% of males, 12,1% of females. In December, unemployment was announced to be 8,5% TEBA:2208/ February 10, 2025.

Number of employed decreased by 195 thousand people in January 2025 compared to previous month as to be 32 million 531 thousand, employment ratio decreased by 0,3 points to be 49,2%. This ratio has been 66,4% among males, 32,3% among females. Labor force decreased 219 thousand in January 2025 compared to previous month to be 35 million 534 thousand people, labor force participation ratio decreased by 0,4 points to be realized as 53,7%. Labor force participation ratio has been 71,0% of males, 36,7% of females.

Unemployment ratio of younger population covering 15-24 age group, decreased by 0.8 points to be 14,9%. Unemployment ratio of this group estimated to be 10.6% of males, 22,7% of females.
