Türkiye - Turkmenistan Natural Gas Agreement

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has reported that after signing historical natural gas supply agreement between Türkiye and Turkmenistan TEBA:2208/ February 11, 2025 Turkmen gas delivery would start on 1 March 2025 and 1,3 billion cubic meter gas to be taken until the end of year would meet requirement of 1,5 million houses. Bayraktar said, "within the context of cooperation between the two countries, 1,3 billion cubic meter Turkmen gas planned to be delivered to Türkiye until the end of year. Gas will meet natural gas requirement of 1,5 million houses. Besides, we will extend this agreement with Turkmenistan up to 5 years.". Bayraktar also said, "Turkmen gas will be a critical step in diversifying Türkiye’s gas supply diversity and import portfolio. Subject gas is of strategic importance in terms of constituting an alternative route in gas export to west. This has been a step strengthening geopolitical position of Türkiye, enhancing its target to be natural gas hub target.". Gas to come to Iran via Turkmenistan’s Devletabad-Serahs-Hangeran Natural Gas Pipeline planned to be transported to Türkiye. Gas will be taken at Gürbulak, at Iran-Türkiye natural gas connection point and will be used in Türkiye.
